Lex Library is operated by Alie Bundu Conteh. Alie Bundu Conteh is the data controller for the personal data described here — we decide why and how it is used.
What we collect and why
- Account details — email address, name, and sign-in credentials (or your Google sign-in). Used to create your account and provide the service (contract).
- Profile details — university and year of study, if you add them. Used to personalise your account (contract).
- Study content — your bookmarks, research questions, the assistant's answers, essay plans, case briefs and revision progress. Used to provide the service and keep your work saved (contract).
- Subscription status — whether you have Premium and when it renews, received from our payment provider. Used to unlock Premium (contract).
- Technical and usage data — IP address, device and browser details, and error logs. Used to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, enforce usage limits and fix problems (legitimate interests).
- Support messages — anything you send us. Used to help you (legitimate interests).
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host the app and database and run our AI features. Your research questions are sent to an AI model provider to generate answers, and are not used to train their models.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, which handles the sale of Premium, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing. Paddle collects your payment details directly; we never see your card number.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, where needed.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers are outside Sierra Leone. Where data is transferred abroad, we rely on providers that apply appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, or it is closed, we delete or anonymise your data within 90 days, except where we must keep records by law.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw any consent you gave. You can edit most profile details yourself on your profile page. We will respond within one month. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls so each student can only see their own data, and limited staff access to protect your information.
Cookies
We only use essential browser storage to keep you signed in and make the app work. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
